LIBRARY
The library is a place that encourages the love of reading.
We have a wonderful collection of books that inspire students to read.
All children at City Tree visit the school library once a week with
their teacher. Students are given the opportunity to check out books
during their library. Teachers also use the library as a resource for
author and genre studies, as well as science and social studies units.
A large selection of Christian books, including many Bible stories as
well as fiction works, help children to grow in their love and understanding
of God's Word and world.
We
are always adding new books to our library. Parents and friends of City
Tree may donate new and used books to the library at any time. One way
many families give books to the school is through our Birthday Book
Program. This program is a voluntary program at City Tree Christian
School that allows children to celebrate their birthday by choosing
a special new book as a "birthday present" to donate to the
City Tree Library. It's fun to wrap the book up as a gift and than unwrap
it in front of the class. Teachers read the book or a portion of the
book aloud to the class. A special bookplate is added to the front of
each book acknowledging the child and their birthday. Birthday Books
are a fun way to celebrate birthdays and give back to the school! Other
students benefit from the gift, and the "present" will be
enjoyed for many years to come!
