6th Grade
Middle school begins with a bang for our sixth graders when they get to attend a four-day Fall camp to Indian Hills in Jamul. Not only does this help our sixth graders develop closer friendships, they also participate in Earth Science activities, do outdoor education, learn survival skills, and are guided to grow more deeply in their faith.
As a middle-schooler, sixth graders have the opportunity to help lead Chapel worship, run A/V equipment, and take Video Production classes.

City Tree seventh graders look forward to their three-day science camp to Catalina Island! During this action-packed trip, students spend time exploring sea life, both in kayaks and on land. This camp guides students in studying marine biology through hands-on experiments and exhibits.
Back on the mainland, seventh graders continue to step into leadership as one of the oldest groups at City Tree. They help lead younger students in Chapel Families, on student council, and in chapel worship. Middle schoolers also take video production and continue building on years of previous education in art, music, and Spanish.

Eighth graders culminate their year with an exciting trip to Washington D.C. and Virginia, exploring our nation’s capital and traveling “back in time” with excursions to Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown, VA. This celebratory trip has typically been well earned, as our oldest class of students has helped lead the student body in chapel worship and music performances, on student council, and in mentoring our youngest students in Chapel Families.
Many of them have also tested their chops as worship leaders or musicians in the chapel band, while others have learned valuable skills running our A/V equipment and doing Video Production. By the time our 8th graders graduate, they are well prepared for high school. Our students go on to attend schools like Bishop, Santa Fe, Our Lady of Peace, and Coronado Performing Arts; many others elect to go to their local public school. Consistently, we hear from our City Tree graduates that they feel confident academically in their new schools and benefited from the strong foundation they experienced at City Tree.
